General tab

The settings tab will appear as shown in the image below:

Under the General Setting tab, set the location for file repository in your local system.

  • Click Browse button to select a location of the file repository in the local system

  • Click on any existing folder or make a new folder as the root folder and then click OK button to set the path.

The following message is displayed after selecting a folder as the file repository for the synced projects:

The sync application creates a new folder at the end of the path, where the folder structure of the synced project is replicated i.e. where the folders and files of the synced projects are downloaded from cloud. Again, if any changes made to the synced folders or files locally, these changes sync back to the cloud.

Once the syncing starts, documents will be downloaded to from cloud or uploaded to cloud from the selected folder location. The user can create a new folder & then select that folder as the new location for downloading or uploading documents to & from cloud.

Note: User cannot change the directory once the syncing has started.

Note: Documents with markups can be downloaded inside a network drive if the path to the local directory (where the synced files will be kept once the Sync App starts) is chosen to be a Network Drive.

Tip: You can also right-click on the SKYSITE sync icon in the windows tray to navigate to the settings tab. Click Open to open the application and then click Settings button to view the settings tab.

Start sync on system startup checkbox

Start sync on system startup checkbox remains unchecked by default. This selection launches the Sync application automatically whenever you start your computer.

If the user sets the local file repository path inside an already existing file repository path, the following message is displayed:

Proxy Tab

The proxy setting allows the user to configure local system's internet connection through proxy server.

PROXY SETTINGS

  • No Proxy - Choosing this option lets the user to direct the sync application not to find proxy server. This radio button is selected by default.
  • Auto - This radio button lets the sync application to auto-detect the local computer's proxy settings. This option can be opted for there is uncertainty over the internet connection and the main server for internet browser is not getting connected with the local system.
  • Manual - This option lets the user to set the proxy settings manually. This selection is typically meant for advanced users. Once this radio button is selected some of the below options appear.

This screen will appear as follows:

    1. Select the proxy server's protocol from the drop-down arrow. Supported protocols are http or https.

    2. Enter server name and port number in the respective text boxes.

    3. Enter username and password in the respective text boxes if the proxy server needs authentication credentials. These credentials are optional. Provide login credentials if your proxy server requires them.

Sync Settings

This setting allows you to configure the type of synchronization between your local system and the SKYSITE cloud. The default setting is Download and Upload option. The main purpose of the three different types of settings provided (viz. Upload Only, Download Only & Download and Upload) is to let you choose between whether to only upload files in the cloud from the desktop, download files from the cloud into the desktop or let the sync application perform both operations simultaneously. Again, you are provided with the option to upload or download or perform both operations on either document without mark-up or documents with mark-up.

The three separate options inclusive of upload and download are described below:

  • Download and Upload – This is the default settings. Selection of this radio-button allows duplex communication between the local system (i.e. your computer) and the cloud after the synchronization application is launched. Files can be uploaded to the cloud from the synced local system as well as downloaded from the cloud to the synced local system. The folder structure of the Project (present in the cloud), which has been selected for synchronization, is replicated in the local system.

Three scenarios arise after the synchronization process is triggered and this radio-button is selected:

                - All existing files present inside the folder (within the project), which has been specifically selected for synchronization, will get automatically downloaded inside the replicated folder of the same name present in the local system.

                - Similarly, any newly uploaded file inside the synchronized folder in the cloud is automatically downloaded within the replicated folder of the same name present in the local system.

-Copying or placing any file within one of the synchronized folders existing in the local system leads to automatic uploading of the file within the folder with the same name present in the cloud

Hence, the automatic upload and download of files between the user's local computer and the cloud application is maintained by using the SKYSITE Sync Application without the hassles of manual upload and download. The synchronized files present inside the replicated folder structure in the local system are available for offline access.

  • Download Only – Selection of this radio-button allows one-way communication between the local system (i.e. your computer) and the cloud after the synchronization application is launched. Files can only be downloaded from the cloud to the synced local system. The folder structure of the Project (present in the cloud), which has been selected for synchronization, is replicated in the local system.

Two scenarios arise after the synchronization process is triggered and this radio-button is selected:

                - All existing files present inside the folder (within the project), which has been specifically selected for synchronization, will get automatically downloaded inside the replicated folder of the same name present in the local system

                - Similarly, any newly uploaded file inside the synchronized folder in the cloud is automatically downloaded within the replicated folder of the same name present in the local system

                - Automatic upload of files from your local system to the SKYSITE PROJECTS cloud is not allowed if you select this option. Hence, any changes to files made in local system i.e. renaming files, deleting files, copying new files will                     not get reflected in SKYSITE Projects cloud.

  • Upload Only – Selection of this radio-button allows one-way communication between the local system (i.e. your computer) and the cloud after the synchronization application is launched. Files can only be uploaded from the synced local system to the cloud. The folder structure of the Project (present in the cloud), which has been selected for synchronization, is replicated in the local system.

Only one scenario arises after the synchronization process is triggered and this radio-button is selected:

                - Copying or placing any file within one of the synchronized and replicated folders existing in the local system leads to automatic uploading of the file within the folder with the same name present in the cloud.

                - Any changes to files made in SKYSITE Projects cloud i.e. renaming files, deleting files, uploading new files will not get reflected in the synced repository of the local system.

Automatic download of files from the cloud into the local system is not allowed if you select this option. All existing files present inside the folder (within the project), which has been specifically selected for synchronization, does not get automatically downloaded inside the replicated folder of the same name present in the local system. So, the existing files present inside the synchronized folders in the cloud will not be visible within the replicated folders in the local system.

Note_1: The local path for the location of the replicated folder can be set within network drives. Hence, network drives can act as repository for synchronized folders.

Note_2: Once the local path for the folder location within the local system has been set and the synchronization procedure has been started, the path cannot be changed. The path can only be changed when the connection is unlinked and a fresh synchronization procedure is started after that.

  • Download with Markup checkbox – This checkbox appears when user selects either one of the Download Only or Download and upload options. Regardless of its appearance due to selection of any one of the radio-buttons, this checkbox remains selected by default. This option lets the user to download documents along with the saved markups present on the document (created in cloud), automatically from the cloud into the desktop, as soon as the Sync App is launched. If this option is not selected (unchecked) then the documents will be downloaded without the markups (if any) present on the documents.

Note_3: In case of a scenario where project is already synced without using the Download with Markup feature and during syncing user changes the Settings by selecting the Download with Markup checkbox. Then user must re-sync the project to download markups in already downloaded documents.

Publishing from sync

User can now upload and directly publish the uploaded documents in cloud app through sync.

Process to upload and simultaneously publish documents through sync:

  • Start and log-in to sync
  • Set the directory for file repository in user’s local system
  • Before starting the syncing of a project go to Preference tab

  • After syncing is over, copy a file in the synced file directory in the user’s local system

Screenshot below displays the copied file [highlighted with red rectangle] in the synced file directory in the user’s local system:

The copied file is instantly upload to the synced project in the cloud application. Previously, the file would have appeared as unpublished in the cloud app but now if the Publish files without Index checkbox in enabled, then the file will appear as published. Hence, the user is saved with the hassle of logging in to the cloud app and publishing the file separately.
